facilitator?

Hye everyone....
Being a facilitator is always a trouble for people who doesn’t have any experience and not used to be a goos speaker or listener. Here some tips for us to be agood facilitator.
How to Be a Good Facilitator
Here are a few tips to running good discussions once you get people together
  1. Questioning.  Lead the discussion by asking questions. Try to ask open-ended questions (questions that require more than a “yes” or “no” answer).

  2. Active Listening.  Listen in a way that makes the speaker feel like you are really interested in what they are saying and that you are trying to fully understand. Maintain eye contact, use encouraging phrases (such as, “Tell me more”), and give full attention to the person who is talking.

  3. Positive Body Language.  You can communicate your interest in what the speaker is saying through your body language. Sitting straight in your chair, leaning forward slightly, and nodding often while maintaining eye contact with the person who is speaking will let them know that you are listening and interested.

  4. Paraphrasing and Summarizing.  Listen for key words and say back to the group what is being said.  This helps keep the participants focused on the discussion. It also makes the speaker feel like you have heard what she has said, and it allows the opportunity for her to clarify a point that may not have been clearly understood the first time.

  5. Neutrality.  While it’s ok for you to express your opinions, you should keep those opinions out of your role as facilitator when others are sharing their opinions.  Encourage others’ ideas to be heard before offering your own solution. Your main goal is to get everyone in the group to share their perspective, and we want to ensure they feel like they can express whatever views they hold, no matter how different they may be from the views of the rest of the group or you.

  6. Offering Encouragement.  Some people may not feel confident about sharing their opinions. They may feel like their thoughts won’t be appreciated or that their ideas are wrong. Your job as facilitator is to make everyone in the group feel like he matters and has something important to contribute.
